Climber from canada, one of the "new" hardy canadians. I really like the open fairly single roses. This WAS supposed to be entierly sngle, but as so often when you buy plants...it�s not. It has a place in my garden anyhow;-) (problem is, everything has;-)

I have been plant hunting

I know of an old garden... it has been abandoned since about 1940 and was tended by a lady who did know what she did. she was fond of primulas especially and propagated and made lots of varieties of them.
The large property now lies abandoned, overgrown and lonley, nobody claims it. There are at least two different kinds of rhododendron growing enormously, under the oaks. One seems to be the ordinary pale purple one but another has leaves I have never seen. There are NO babyplants there to take...

It wouldn't be wrong at all to be the one who got the mission to remake her garden, weed out invaders and tended the original plants,cut down the right trees to let sun in again, rebuild beds and paths... it has it all: large oaks, willows at the bank of the stream, a high mountainside in shade for rodhodenrons, bambu, azaleas and a sunny opening where I would let roses grow...there is only one problem: the deer... One would have to start with a new and very highfence around it all...

Another romneya has found me!

Yesterday I got a Romneya plant from Dawn in Cornwall. It had been pretty rudely handled by the post... Now it satnds in it's own pot in the nursery bed and I am holding my breath. I can't see yet if it will live or die. It is hard with those hardleafed variants I think, to see how they are doing. I hope I hope I hope. And I am astounded by the kindness of Dawn who simply wanted to send me a plant of hers. I sur hope I will be able to do such things in the future...when I have learned a lot and have a garden full of wonders;-)

Venusta Pendula

New for this year, lovely I think. It is going to ramble over the door to the backyard when grown up;-) Faint smell, has flowered profusely although newly planted.

New Dawn

Ahh, the rose impersonated. Pink, lovely, healthy leaves, thin perfume, climber is mine. Slow starter but will grow fast once established.

Nevada

lovely perfume, BIG bush, 3 meters high, flowers twice, early the first time and get pink in autumn. Greedily eaten by deer;-(

I have got axel Olsen, hybrida and the real thing... they are new for this year and noone flowers. Can get up to seven meters high;-)

Schneezwerg

White dwarf rugosa. No perfume. flowers insanely. very low.

Iceberg/ Schneewitchen

Name confusing not rare. The older Schneewitches is prone to mold, but this one is healthy enough. No perfume or very little but in exchange LARGE white flowers in clusters. Fast climber after initial year.

Flammentanz

Red, wildly flowering, no perfume, bluish cast to the red, gets BIG and grows well. Climber up to about five meter.

Gislaine de Feligonde

Completely wonderful. Masses of small flowers in clusters. Buds are apricot, newly opened light apricot to yellow, a day= pink, two days= white....
It doesn't have very much perfume. Bush that will become about two meter i given support. Handels rain pretty well.

Mrs Popple

Mrs Popple, I really like the colours of thoose fuchsias. I will winter store this one.

Preston Guild

Well... this one was the first I decided was a must have. Now I have it, almost one meter high, still growing and with clouds of smallish (but not very small) flowers that curl as the flower ages and turns pinky when its old.
